Four Italian police officers, along with their Chinese counterparts, began joint patrolling operations in Beijing on Monday afternoon. The move came after the two countries' police authorities launched the project in Beijing on Monday. It is the first time that the Chinese police officers have collaborated with foreign cops patrolling in China. According to a bilateral agreement reached by the two governments in 2014, the Italian police officers, without being armed, will handle issues related to Italian tourists and patrol touristic areas in Beijing and Shanghai. The project will last for two weeks from April 24 to May 7. In recent years, cultural and people-to-people exchanges have become much more frequent between China and Italy and more than three million Chinese choose Ital...
Sky News correspondent Mark Stone is harassed by police as he tries to report on the trial of a prominent Chinese lawyer in Beijing. Xu Zhiyong, a lawyer and a lecturer at the Beijing University of Post and Telecommunications, was arrested in July last year and has been in custody at Beijing's Number 3 Detention Centre since then. Among Mr Xu's alleged crimes are charges including "making a racket" and "attracting onlookers". Security around the Number 1 Intermediate Court in the far west of the Chinese capital has been extremely tight. Scores of uniformed and plain-clothed security officials circled the courthouse. Foreign news organisations, including Sky News, were bundled away as they tried to film despite being allowed to cover the trial from outside court. http://news.sky.com/s...
Ahead of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, which falls on Thursday, police at Beijing' s Capital International Airport invited ten curious fans to meet their canine unit. The airport' s canine unit was established in June 2008 and is the country' s first aviation security canine unit. The dogs were also used to conduct security checks for the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics and the 2010 Shanghai World Expo.

BEIJING — This isn't Sparta! Several photos of a bungled viral promotion event have started bouncing around the Chinese internet. On Wednesday, a Beijing salad shop hired a gaggle of foreign hunks to promote their wares, but neglected to inform their imperial overlords in the government. The whole group was arrested for "disturbing social order" according to official state news outlet, Xinhua. Sweety Salad, purveyors of salad in a cup, hired several dozen guys to dress like Spartans. The Greek vegetarians then marched around Beijing's Sanlitun district, to the delight of all. All, except their Communist masters, who were unnerved by the sight of 3,000 year old freedom fighters marching in formation. Groups independent of the Chinese Communist Party are strictly banned, be they Tibeta...
